The students were asked to read Pico Iyer’s “Why We Travel” and “What I love about Kyoto,” and also Jona Bering’s photo essay “Stories from Britania”. They were then asked to create two separate postcards addressed to the authors. The first postcard contained at least two (2) points as to how “What I Love Kyoto” demonstrated the reasons as to why Pico Iyer travels, and the second post card contained two reasons as to how Jona Berin’s essay modeled or departed from Pico Iyer’s model of the travel essay.
